Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) is an anti-psychotic medication manufactured by AstraZeneca. Seroquel was approved by the FDA in 1997 for treatment of acute manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder and the treatment of schizophrenia. Seroquel is an oral medication which comes in doses of 25mg, 100mg, 200mg, and 300mg and is used to
manage the symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder including:
delusions, thought disorder, hallucinations, social withdrawal, lack of energy,
apathy, and reduced ability to express emotion.
In addition to blood sugar disorders such as hyperglycemia and stroke Seroquel side effects may also include:
Tardive dyskinesia is a
lifelong condition with no known effective treatment that has been shown to
occur among atypical antipsychotic users such as Seroquel. Only if identified in
early stages can tardive dyskinesia sometimes be reversed. Especially older
patients and women are at risk for suffering Seroquel side effects like tardive
dyskinesia.
